Membership and Communication Committee Charge

Friends of the Lincoln Community Forest

The Membership and Communication Committee campaigns to increase membership, manages and maintains membership data, and promotes the organization’s activities to members and the public.  The Membership and Communication Committee has the authority and responsibility to:

  • Schedule at least three committee meetings annually and prepare meeting notes
  • Develop an annual work plan by October 1 for the upcoming year.
  • Invite new members and facilitate renewal of current members
    • Conduct annual membership drive by December 15
    • Campaign year-round to increase membership
  • Maintain the database of membership records and mailing lists
    • Keep records up to date
    • Provide quarterly membership reports
  • Maintain the database of Friends Group and Forest images
  • Conduct events to honor and increase membership
    • Organize annual membership meeting
    • Recommend annual schedule of events to attend and carry out
  • Provide members and/or donor’s acknowledgement letters and receipts for tax purposes within 30 days.
  • Maintain and update the website layout as needed
  • Produce news releases and other communication materials for social and press media
    • Submit 1-3 press releases per year to local press media on general FLCF activities
    • Post current news to Facebook page and web site at least monthly
  • Develop and display communication materials
    • Develop membership brochure and update every two years
    • Post materials and maintain trailhead kiosk
  • Spend time in and become familiar with the Forest
  • Consider additional tasks as needed
