What makes the Lincoln Community Forest and The Friends of the Lincoln Community Forest (FLCF) so special to me? When I was old enough to carry a fishing rod my Father would take me fishing for brook trout on the Marengo River in the Chequamegon NF, and before I was old enough to drive a car my Mother would take me “partridge” hunting along the Marengo River in the Chequamegon NF. Today, thanks in a large part to FLCF, nearly 400 acres of mixed hardwoods forest and 2 ½ miles of the Marengo River are conserved for fish and wildlife and open for public enjoyment, forever.
Professional Background: I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources from Northland College in Ashland, WI and a Master’s in Business Management from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. I worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 34 years, primarily in fish and wildlife management, habitat conservation, and endangered species programs in Michigan, North Dakota and Wisconsin. After retiring in 2006, I worked for the American Birkebeiner grooming ski trails and now groom ski trails on the Lincoln Community Forest. In 2019 I was elected Chairman for the Town of Lincoln, and reelected in 2021.
Hobbies: Cycling, cross country skiing, wood working, hunting, hiking, trail maintenance, gardening.
